Lineman adapts to change over time
Austin senior lineman Andrew Hagan has always been one of the biggest kids on the field.
For the last four years, he was always been on the varsity field as he saw playing time with the squad as a freshman lineman.
“The offense has changed a lot (in four years) and the way the practice has run has changed,” Hagan said. “The attitude of the team has also changed.”
Now Hagan is likely to make one more change. After playing offensive guard last season, he is preparing to take snaps at center for the first time in his career.
After getting his snaps down, Hagan began to work on all of the other differences the position offers.
“It was an experience the first day, now slowly but surely I’m making progress,” Hagan said. “I’m getting the snap down and I’m just trying to execute the plays to the fullest of my ability.”
Hagan is part of a senior class that wants to finish strong this fall. The Packers have won just two games in three years, but they hope things will be better this season.
“This senior group is very, very hungry for a winning season,” Hagan said “It’s been tough putting in hard work and not getting too many results. We’ll try very hard to get more wins than last year.”
