Red Cross looking for blood donors
The American Red Cross is back, and it’s out for blood.
The Red Cross is calling on all eligible blood donors to roll up a sleeve and help save a life by making an appointment to donate blood. During the summer, when blood donations tend to slow, eligible blood donors are needed even more.
The Red Cross will be at the following places:
—Mower County employees, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Aug. 6, 201 First St. NE.
—Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 2 to 7 p.m., Aug. 7, 103 Pershing St., Lyle
—Sterling State Bank, 1 to 7 p.m., Aug. 13; noon to 6 p.m., Aug. 14; noon to 6 p.m., Aug. 15, 1419 First Ave. SW.
—LeRoy Community Center, 1 to 7 p.m., Aug. 15, 204 W. Main St.
How to donate blood
Call 800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate.
