Blooming Prairie girls give solid effort in loss to No. 2 Kenyon-Wanamingo

The Blooming Prairie girls basketball team closed its regular season with a solid effort as it gave Kenyon-Wanamingo (24-1 overall), which is ranked No. 2 in Class ‘AA,’ a good game in a 64-57 loss in BP Tuesday.

BP (17-7 overall) will open Section 1A tournament play when it hosts LeRoy-Ostrander Thursday at 7 p.m.

“It’s a great game to go into tournament with,” BP head coach John Worke said. “It was a confidence builder for a lot of our kids. Our main objective was to handle their pressure and compete with them and I think we did that.”

BP’s Taylor Hagen had 17 points and seven rebounds and Kalyn Naatz had 11 points and 15 rebounds.

“Kalyn’s a six foot kid that can put the ball in the basket,” BP head coach John Worke said. “She’s got a lot of things going for her on the offensive end. Her and Taylor are learning to play off of each other.”

Sarah Noble had 13 points on senior night for BP.
