Bowling alley remodels, adds party rooms

For three weeks, Echo Lanes has been in the process of remodeling.

Echo Lanes Bowling Alley owner Bob Grafing is spearheading a remodel for the bowling alley.

“It needed a major face lift,” said Echo Lanes owner Bob Grafing.

Grafing is transforming the bowling alley’s locker rooms into party rooms, he remodeled the bar, and he will put in new locker rooms. Last summer, he remodeled the concession stand.

When Grafing bought the bowling alley in 2009, he said everything was gray, giving it a depressing feel. Not anymore.

With the “face lift,” Grafing hopes to have more customers and a better business.

“It’s one of the few family facilities that Austin has,” he said.

Grafing hopes to finish by Sept. 1.
