AHS will host 2 hoops camps in June

The Austin high school boys basketball program will be hosting two camps in June for students ranging from first grade to eighth grade.

The camp that runs from June 11-15 is for boys going into fifth through eighth grade and will run from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The camp will focus on shooting, passing, perimeter play, post play, pick and roll, reading screens, cutting, spacing and timing. It is an intense week that will consist of individual drills, 1-on-1 drills, 2-on-2 drills, 3-on-3 drills, 4-on-4 drills and game situations.

The camp, which costs $30 and will be held in Packer Gym, is meant to be fun, intense and educational.

The camp that runs from June 18 to June 22 will focus on grades 1-4. Boys in grades 1-2 will go from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and boys in grades 3-4 will go from 2:45 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Packers varsity team and coaching staff will assist in the camp, which focuses on fundamentals and fun. The boys will learn basic fundamentals through drill instruction, and play games, while learning about team play.

The camp costs $20.

For both camps, each participant will receive a T-Shirt for both camps and campers must bring basketball shoes and proper gym wear.
