‘Christmas at Home’ tickets now on sale

A new holiday show is coming to the Historic Paramount Theatre and tickets are now on sale.

“Christmas at Home” is being presented by members of the Austin Public Schools Music Department to raise funds for music, instruments and supplies. This is a one-of-a-kind variety show featuring music faculty, current students, alumni and friends.

The show itself could make a good gift for friends and family, and support at the show will help budding musicians in all 12 grades of the Austin music program continue a tradition of excellence.

“Christmas at Home” will take place at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18 and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Paramount Theatre. The Hormel Historic Home will also host a pre-show dinner before Friday night’s performance.

Each performance will include songs by select student ensembles like the AHS Austinaires on Friday evening, AHS Jazz One on Saturday evening, and AHS La Fiera Chamber Orchestra on the Saturday matinee. Each show also includes a wide variety of local musicians such as the Peter Jacobs Jazz Combo, Alice Holst, The Anderson Family Singers, Northwestern Singers, Austin Harmonics String Quintet, Ashley Harrington, Jesse Smith, Taylor Bliese, Coni Nelson, Dylan Kaercher, Gordy Handeland, and more.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.austinareaarts.org and at the Austin Artworks Center in downtown Austin. Donations are still being sought and individuals or businesses interested in becoming a sponsor can still register. For more information, contact AHS Director of Bands Bradley Mariska at bradley.mariska@austin.k12.mn.us.
