City Council officially adopts budget, tax levy for 2019; Tax levy increased by 15.69 percent
The Austin City Council unanimously approved and adopted the budget and tax levy for 2019 during its regular meeting Monday evening.
The proposed budget for 2019 is $34,947,319, broken down as follows:
• General Government Services (general administration, public safety, highways and streets, park and recreation, business development, other general, recreation programs, library, fire PERA refund, and capital projects fund) – $22,629,507
• Tax Increment Revenue Pool – $248,833
• Enterprise Funds (sewer user, waste transfer station, storm water management, Port Authority operations) – $6,710,601
• Internal Service Funds (equipment garage, management information system, fire equipment services, and risk management) – $5,358,378
The proposed tax levy for 2019 is $6,873,000, an increase of $932,000, or 15.69 percent, from 2018. The purpose of the tax levy is as follows:
• General – $4,588,861
• Library – $968,139
• Port Authority – $40,000
• Capital Improvements – $1,276,000
The tax is levied based on assessed property value.
