Trio set to receive recognition

Cornerstone honoring extraordinary women during annual conference

Cornerstone Church is not going to let extraordinary women go unnoticed.

This year, at Cornerstone’s annual women’s conference, nearly 50 women nominated as extraordinary women will be recognized, and three will receive extra-special attention during next Friday’s “big reveal.”

Grand Meadow’s Amy Sund and Austin’s Tiffany Miller and Jennifer Lloyd will receive a day of pampering on behalf of Golden Tress, The Style Lounge and Sterling Beauty salons. Furthermore, they each will receive a brand-new, free outfit.

Yet those three women are lucky, as the selection committee had a tough time deciding who would be the top three.

“It was really difficult because there were so many really amazing, incredible women nominated,” said Angie Goetz of Cornerstone’s women’s ministry.

Goetz spoke of the demeanor and selfless acts of each woman. She noted the strength of Miller, who recently had to cope with the sadness of a miscarriage.

“Tiffany is somebody who just constantly thinks of others before herself,” Goetz said. “She is always the first one to lend a hand or an encouraging word.”

The selflessness of Sund, who is married, has several children and always puts others first, stood out to Goetz, too.

“She would give this award away, if she could,” Goetz said.

While Sund received the award, she was actually on the other end of the spectrum, nominating those she thought should get the award.

And Lloyd, an Austin Public Schools employee who works with English language learners, is deserving of the award, as well. She already helps students for a living; however, she takes her work beyond the school, Goetz said.

“She goes out of her way all the time,” Goetz said. “She goes and meets with their families outside of school whenever she can.”

After the women are pampered, they will be formally honored at the women’s conference, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The entire event focuses on what good God has done in these women’s and their loved ones’ lives. The focus comes from the Bible, James 1:18.

“Our whole theme is kind of built around that verse,” Goetz said. “Showing off what God has done in our lives.”

Events will continue at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and feature guest speakers, music, a catered lunch, a session with the four pastors’ wives, giveaways and more. The entire event is somewhat unique to Austin, Goetz said, and is fitting for all women. She expects about 200 participants.
