Marian Louise Lerum, 86

Marian Louise Lerum, 86, of Austin, Minnesota, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Marian was born on May 19, 1929, in Austin, Minnesota, to Arthur and Helen (Gilbertson) Snell. She graduated from high school in Belleville, Illinois, where her father had been transferred to set up a new SPAM plant for

Hormel. On Sept. 23, 1951, she was united in marriage to Thomas Donald Lerum at the Presbyterian Church in Austin, Minnesota. Marian worked for several years as a secretary in the livestock division at Hormel before staying home to raise her family.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she was an active member of her church circle, helped with setting up communion, helped in the kitchen and with the church rummage sale. She was also a very active member of the Fairview Oakland Cemetery Association where she helped with the annual bake sale.

Marian was an avid fan of all high school, college and professional athletics. She also enjoyed bowling and playing cards. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Helen Snell; brothers: Donald Snell and Dean Snell; and daughter and son-in-law Linda and Gary Schroeder.

Marian is survived her husband Thomas “Tommy” Lerum, Austin, Minnesota; daughters and sons-in-law: Paula (Melvin) Davis, Bagley, Minnesota, Pam (Donald) Naatz, Waltham, Minnesota; grandchildren: Joseph (Jody) Schroeder, Sarah (Bryan) Konisiewicz, Jeffrey (Brooke) Naatz, Matthew (Jessica) Naatz, Tommy Davis, Kristin (Jason) Peck; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Olmsted officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service.
