Austin police K-9s receive awards
Austin’s police K-9s Ghost and Bosco continued to prove their worth this week.
Both dogs earned top awards at the Region 12 police K-9 competition on June 25 and 26 in Sauk Rapids, Minn.
Bosco took a fourth-place award in apprehension, and Ghost earned the first-place award for dual purpose dog, which includes narcotics tracking and apprehension. The event included roughly 65 dogs. Together, Bosco and Ghost also took first place in team competition.
“We’re very proud of the dogs for how they competed, but more importantly the services they provide,” said Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger.
Ghost, owned by officer Matt Holten, and Bosco, owned by officer Eric Blust, are both descendants of former Austin Police K-9 Tazer.
