Three make Eagle Scout

Three Austin youth have earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Award.

David Erdahl, Jerome Green and Neil Erdahl were recognized for their achievements Sunday, Oct. 30, at the First United Methodist Church of Austin.

They are members of Troop 112, chartered by the American Legion Post 91. Their Scouting career started as Tiger Cubs. And their achievement is recognized as representing approximately 2 precent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle Rank, according to Scoutmaster Peter Green. Scouts from Pack 122 and Troop 122 helped with both the leadership projects and Eagle ceremony.

Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community leadership project. Neil Erdahl’s project was to construct a sandbox-playarea at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Green’s project planted trees for the tornado recovery at Todd Park. David Erdahl constructed and placed Wood Duck houses at the Hormel Nature Center. Their efforts will be enjoyed by many for years to come.

The three of them have provided leadership and guidance to their troop and are now active seniors at Austin High School. David and Neil are sons of Alan and Sandy Erdahl. Jerome is the son of Peter and Kathy Green, all of Austin.
