Another generous gift

Daily Herald Editorial

Congratulations and thanks to Hormel corporate office employees who, collectively, pledged to donate $230,000 to the United Way of Mower County.

The corporate office employees’ generosity is particularly significant because it represented an increase of more than 10 percent over last year’s already-record-level giving. During these tough and uncertain economic times, giving to others is particularly noteworthy.

The United Way is a particularly good way to give. In Mower County, the United Way takes in more than $900,000 in gifts and redistributes them to non-profit and charitable organizations which it has found to make good use of the money to help those in need. And giving through the United Way simplifies the process for donors.

Austin has been blessed, this year, with some significant acts of giving, and of caring. Hormel corporate office employees are the latest example of generosity that will make a difference in many people’s lives.
