Electronics company to accept computers, monitors for free

It’s time to take care of those old computer monitors in the basement and bid farewell to the beige microwave.

The city of Austin and Mower County, teaming up with 5R Processors, will host a free community electronics collection. Residents of Austin and Mower can stop by the Mower County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9 to drop off their unused devices.

5R will only accept residential equipment. The company will offer a hard drive cleansing approved by the Department of Defense for $10. People can call 715-322-4347 with questions.

The collection will accept:

-Laptops

-Docking stations

-Printer/toner cartridges

-Fax machines

-Printers

-TVs

-MP3 players (including iPods)

-Cellular and hard wire phones

-Keyboards and mice

-Stereo equipment

-Microwaves

-Game consoles

-DVD and VHS players

-Other computer peripherals
