Austin Public Schools officials announced former Austin High School Assistant Principal Jason Senne as the new principal of Ellis Middle School.

Senne, who has worked in Austin since 1996, was a teacher and later the Dean of Students at Ellis from 2005 to 2008. He will begin his new role Monday, Aug. 20.

Superintendent David Krenz said Senne best fit the direction and philosophy Ellis officials are working toward.

“[His] familiarity with the staff and the staff’s familiarity with Jason’s style and his leadership skills really help,” Krenz said.

AHS officials will interview candidates to replace Senne starting this week.
