City of Brownsdale says yes to liquor on Sundays
Sundays may soon be a lot more interesting in Brownsdale.
Brownsdale residents voted 244-109 for an amendment on their ballot to allow the sale of liquor in restaurants on Sundays. Owners of the Frontier Lounge pushed for the question to be on a special election ballot in 2011. Instead, they held off and waited for Brownsdale City Council to put the question on this year’s ballot to save costs associated with a special election.
While the amendment has passed, the Brownsdale City Council will now also need to approve the decision before it goes into effect. If that passes, Brownsdale could see a little more business on Sundays.
The Frontier Lounge may be the only business the amendment affects, as owners of Langtry Cafe told the Herald they did not oppose the move but still do not wish to serve liquor on Sundays.
