Bleifus shakes off injury to lead Superlarks to a win

HOUSTON — With four starters sidelined and plenty of players banged up, the Grand Meadow football team had its fair share of injuries headed into Friday’s game with Houston.

Then the Superlarks almost lost their quarterback on the first series of the game. GM junior Trenton Bleifus suffered a dislocated finger, but he played through it as he threw for 297 yards and two scores in GM’s 40-26 win over Houston (2-3 overall, 2-3 SEC) on the road.

Due to Bleifus’s injury, GM had to run every play from shot gun as Bleifus couldn’t take a snap from under center.

“It was pretty bad and I was shocked that they let him come and play,” GM head coach Gary Sloan said.

GM sophomore Landon Jacobson helped carry some of the load for the Larks (5-0 overall, 5-0 SEC) as he totaled 298 yards of offense and he scored three TDs.

“He did an awful lot,” Sloan said. “But we had so many guys step up in our passing game and our line played great.”
