Veterans’ Council to honor former member

A group of friends is inviting the public to a dinner to remember a former commissioner and member of the Mower County Veterans’ Council.

The veterans’ council will hold an annual fundraiser dinner in honor of Len Miller, a former Mower County Commissioner and veteran who died a few years ago.

The dinner of pork roast, sauerkraut, dumplings, potatoes and gravy will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion, 809 12th St. SW.

All money earned will go to the veterans’ council.

“It’s a nice way to raise some money,” said Jim Goudy, a former legion commander who helps fund the dinner.

Goudy described the dinner as a good way to remember Len, who he described as a real character, while also doing some good.

“It’s a nice way for friends of his to get together,” he said.
