Dance group ready for finale

The dance season is spinning to a close.

The Jane Taylor Academy of Dance will closes its year with their 47th annual recital at 7 p.m. Saturday at Austin High School’s Knowlton Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door. All proceeds from the flower sale will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This past season, the team from Jane Taylor Academy of Dance presented the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with nearly a $400 donation.

Students at the Jane Taylor Academy of Dance had a busy season. Jane Taylor dancers were won second place high score overall senior sivision (senior company jazz), eighth high score overall teen lines (senior and junior company tap), second high score overall teen solos (Alix LeBarron), third high score overall and fifth high score overall teen solos (Jordan Flaherty). Special judges awards went to the following: Amy Johnson, Alix LeBarron, Jordan Flaherty, Chelsea Holst, and the Senior Company Jazz.

Chelsea Holst was chosen as a nominee for Miss International Dance Challenge. The dancers were earned five platinum awards, 11 high gold awards, seven gold awards and two high silver awards. At Starpower, which is scored on a scale of five stars, the Jane Taylor Academy of Dance dancers were awarded the following: five routines scored 4 and 1/2 Stars, six routines scored 4 and 1/4 Stars.

Students competing were: Jordan Flaherty, Emily Sundal, Jessica Tan, Amy Johnson, Sarah Belden, Annamarie Hernandez, Mariah Nagel, Alix LeBarron, Chelsea Holst, Paige Goetz, Emily McAlister, Katherine Salazar, Jenna Anderson, Laura Ferguson, Ashley Schoonover, Betsy Ettinger, Jacy Hansen, Dorothy Stevens, Shayla Retterath, Tehya Kvam, Madison Hasley, Autumn Engesser, Tasha Engesser, Lizzy Wolterman, Lilly Nystel, Alexa Ferguson, Christina Hernandez, Jannel Howard, Kjirsten Zahn and Aidan Eastlee.
