27-year-old arrested for assaulting ex

An Austin man is in jail after allegedly entering his ex-girlfriend’s home without her permission and assaulting her Monday morning.

Joshua Solberg, 27, faces possible first-degree burglary, entering an occupied dwelling, and theft charges, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger.

Police responded to the 800 block of Eighth Street SW at about 10:15 a.m. Monday after a woman called police. The woman told police Solberg had entered the home through an unlocked door but the woman and her 24-year-old daughter made Solberg leave. Solberg and the daughter had broken up several weeks ago, according to Krueger.

Krueger said Solberg entered through an unlocked door once more. Solberg allegedly assaulted his ex after she caught him rifling through her purse for money. The victim had no injuries, according to a police report.

Solberg was arrested and is in Mower County jail pending formal charges.
