Nature center holding auction for old exhibits

On Saturday, April 1, there will be a silent auction in the old interpretive building at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center.

The sale will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. with the public able to come in and bid on furniture and displays that will not be moved into the new building. Bidding will close in stages at 11, 11:15, and 11:30 a.m. Coffee and hot chocolate will be served for a donation during the auction. Winning bidders are responsible for moving their items out that day or between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, April 3. Items can be paid for using cash or check only.

Youth volleyball

Youth volleyball registration deadline is Friday for those students grades third to sixth. Students will meet on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning April 3 to May 11 at Ellis Middle School, the cost is $45 per player.

Riverside Figure Skating Club

Riverside Figure Skating Club spring session is underway.

New skaters will have three free lessons from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.  Session dates are April 2, 23, 30 and May 7.  It is never too late to sign up.

You may show up at Riverside Arena on those dates and check their Facebook page for details.

Baseball

There will be a free Packer baseball camp for those ages 10 to 14 on April 1 in the Packer Dome.  A parent or guardian must register their student – registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the camp runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Dryland hockey

Dryland hockey training for those ages mites to bantams is coming in April.

Clinic times are from 6 to 7 p.m. for this clinic which starts April 12 and goes to May 17. The cost is $30.

You will need a hockey helmet, hockey gloves and a hockey stick! Sign up at Parks and Rec

Planning for summer

Summer is just around the corner which means it is time to start thinking about summer activities. Our brochure will be coming home with students at the end of this month.

Are you a college student enrolled in the Park and Recreation field or like working with kids and sports?

We are looking for a summer recreation assistant.  For more information call our office and ask for Jake.   

We are currently taking applications for all other summer employment opportunities, you can find the seasonal job application on line, print it off and bring it to our new office space in City Hall, 500 4th Avenue NE.

Riverside Arena schedule

Riverside Figure Skate Club Spring session is Sunday’s April 2, 23, 30 and May 7.

Adult Open Hockey: 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. Cost is $6 per person each event. Attendees must be 16; goalies are free.

Public skate: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday; 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 31; 3:45 to 5 p.m. April 2; 7 to 9 p.m. April 7. The cost is $4 to skate plus $1 if you need to rent skates.
