Cardinals topple Lyle-Pacelli
LYLE — The Lyle-Pacelli football team posted a season-high 223 rushing yards, but it still fell short to LeRoy-Ostrander by a score of 30-8 in Lyle Friday.
The game was scoreless late in the first half when LO quarterback Jace Bunne rolled out and found Mitch Scaglione, who went 76 yards for a touchdown with 14 seconds left in the second quarter.
“We gave up too many big plays,” LP head coach Reid Olson said.
The Cardinals (2-1 overall, 2-1 SEC) built up their lead in the second half as Lucas Roe, who ran for 132 yards, ran in two scores and Scaglione ran in another touchdown.
LO also had two long TD runs called back due to penalties.
“We’re battling injuries and we’re shuffling in some new guys,” LO head coach Aaron Hungerholt said.
The Athletics (0-3 overall, 0-3 SEC) got on the board when Andy Davidson, who ran for 90 yards, broke off a long touchdown run.
Olson was pleased with the way his team moved the ball on the ground in the loss.
“We’re committed to pounding the ball and we took a step in the right direction tonight,” he said.
