Lyle-Pacelli softball team falls to Houston in season opener
The Lyle-Pacelli softball team played its first varsity game since 2010 and it lost 14-1 at Houston in Thursday.
LP (0-1 overall, 0-1 SEC) struggled against Houston starter Abby Loken as she allowed one hit and struck out 13.
“You could tell it was our first game as we had some jitters but then calmed down somewhat,” LP head coach Jeff Yocom said. “Walks and passed balls were our downfall, along with none of our girls having ever faced a varsity pitcher before. Otherwise it would have been close.”
Bethany Strouf took the loss for LP as she struck out two and allowed four hits.
Courtney Walter had LP’s lone hit.
