1 year prison term set for aiding in forgery, probation violations
A check forgery case from 2010 was updated last Thursday in Mower County Court, and now an Austin woman must serve one year in prison.
Wendy Sue Parker, 41, was re-sentenced for aiding and abetting check forgery, a felony. She was originally sentenced to five years’ supervised probation and was also convicted and sentenced to 30 days in jail for fifth-degree drug possession. Both crimes happened at nearly the same time in November 2010.
Though Mower County Court administration had no other criminal files, Parker’s file does show several hearings on probation violations during the past year. Parker was arrested in November 2010 when Austin police searched and discovered meth pipes, a digital scale, marijuana pipes and a small amount of marijuana in plain sight in her bedroom. They also found 0.9 grams of meth in a desk drawer in the bedroom. Police also seized four pills of Vyvanse (Lisdexamfetamine), six pills containing hydrocodone, and 45 Clonazepam and 13 Alprazalam pills.
A detective interviewed Parker regarding the check forgery case while she was in jail. According to the complaint, Parker tried to help a man cash a stolen check for $629. Parker denied the accusations; however, detectives later found information linking the stolen check and people Parker knows.
