Enjoy the 2011 Mower County Fair

Daily Herald editorial

Whether it’s watching a demolition derby at the grandstand, checking out the 4-H animals in the barns or wandering the midway, take time this week to enjoy the Mower County Fair.

In a world when the fast pace and preponderance of indoor pursuits often keeps people isolated, the fair provides a rare and enjoyable opportunity to meet up with friends and acquaintances and generally enjoy being sociable. With plenty of diversions, from people-watching to carnival rides, there’s something at the fair for everyone.

Beyond the usual attractions, of which there are many, this year’s fair offers a special attraction: Temperatures in the mid-70s and only small to moderate chance of rain. In other words, the weather is likely to be perfect.

It all adds up to a perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy one of the year’s best community events: The Mower County Fair.
