Sumner plans annual Women’s Expo
Sumner Elementary School is getting effeminate this weekend.
The second annual Women’s Expo will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at Sumner.
The event is Sumner’s largest fundraiser and proceeds will go to buy new playground equipment.
“We’ve got a lot of crafters, lots of arts and crafts, jewelry, clothes, homemade clothes, and purses,” said Karla Dooley, Sumner Student Council adviser.
Almost 50 vendors will be present and Sumner’s Student Council and Safety Patrol will also have booths for fundraising purposes. Parents United For Kids, a parent group at Sumner, will make and sell shredded pork sandwichs and chips for lunch, for a small fee.
There will also be a free raffle as well, according to Dooley. More than 1,700 residents came to last year’s expo, and Sumner officials were able to buy new swings for students with the proceeds. Dooley said Sumner officials have yet to decide what playground equipment to update with this year’s proceeds.
