Lorraine L. Meyer, 93, died peacefully on Jan. 17, 2015, in Austin, Minnesota.

Lorraine, or preferably Lori, was born May 5, 1921, in Iona, Minnesota, to Isadore and Mary Lieb. Lori worked at a drug store in Des Moines, Iowa, after graduating from Paulina High School in Paulina, Iowa. The family moved to a farm in Zimmerman, Minnesota, when Lori was in her early 20s and she took a position with the courthouse in Elk River. She helped to support the family farm.

She married Clayton Meyer in Elk River on April 2, 1946. They moved to Austin in 1948 for Clayton’s career where he founded his State Farm agency. They had five children who Lori dedicated her life to and tried to raise with as much love as a mother can give. She was an avid reader and enjoyed history and culture that she tried to pass on to her children. Lori loved to travel and enjoyed their homes in Brainerd, Minnesota, and Scottsdale, Arizona.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Mike and Sara, Bloomington, Greg and Anne Marie, Austin, Tim and Debbie, Mahtomedi, Jaci and Joe (Coopet), Woodbury, and Jeff and Tammy, Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Marie Lieb (Fred).

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clayton; her parents; sisters: Alice Mae and Shirley and her brother, Fred; and brother-in-law Francis Merten (Shirley).

Lori will be sorely missed.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Paul Nelson officiating. There will be a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 6:30 p.m. wake service on Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Autism Recovery Foundation where daughter-in-law, Tammy, sits on the board. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com.
