Hilda M. Turner, 85

Hilda Marie Turner, 85, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

Hilda was born in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, on May 27, 1930, to John Joseph and Marie Augusta (Peterka) Fiebiger. She was Homecoming Queen and met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Norman Turner, all at Blooming Prairie High School. She graduated in 1948.

Hilda and Norman married on Dec. 2, 1948, and to this union, five children were born: Terry, Greg, Jane, Bradley and Becky. Hilda was a homemaker who loved raising her family. After her children were gone from home,

Hilda went to college and pursued a degree in nursing.

Hilda was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. She loved dancing with Norman at the Terp Ballroom in her younger years, loved cooking, taking care of her family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing penny slots at the casino.

Hilda is survived by her children; Terry Rutherford of Pasadena, California, Greg Turner of Austin, Minnesota, Jane (Tom) Cummings of Rochester, Minnesota, Becky Ciani of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Blake Rutherford, Marin Turney, Jason, Jessie and Jenna Turner, Melissa Sorenson, Katie Cummings, Samantha, Jordan and Nick Ciani; great-grandchildren, Elsa Sorenson and Ajah Pearson and Norah Ciani; siblings, Liz Frederickson of Hayfield and Dorothy Herron of Bloomington along with many nieces and nephews.

Hilda is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Bradley, siblings, Freddie, Frank, Freida, Carl, Bob, Edith and Ruth.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. Friends may greet the family at the church on Monday morning for one hour before the service. Burial will be private.
