No instruments, no problem for Tonic Sol-Fa

A cappella group returning to Paramount

A Minnesota quartet won’t need anything more than its voices and a tambourine for its upcoming show at Austin’s Paramount Theatre.

The a cappella group Tonic Sol-Fa will perform at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the historic theater.

“All of their music is done with their voices,” said Jennie Knoebel, executive director of the Paramount Theatre.

The acclaimed quartet is making a return trip to the Paramount, and Knoebel said the group has built up quite the following locally.

“They definitely have a fan base,” Knoebel said.

Tonic Sol-Fa performs more than 100 shows in the Midwest and nationally each year. The group is in the Midwest Music Hall of Fame and has won two Independent Grammy awards.

Knoebel said the group is known for getting the audience involved in its shows.

“They’ll sing songs to them or find out about who they are, and they’ll tie it into the songs they’re singing,” Knoebel said.
