ST. PAUL, Minn. — A Ramsey County panel is set to decide whether county residents get to vote on a proposed sales tax increase to help build a new Minnesota Vikings stadium.

The Ramsey County Charter Commission meets Tuesday night. The little-known panel could complicate the team’s suburban stadium bid in Arden Hills if its members support a tax referendum to take place next year.

The commission is expected to vote on the amendment after a public hearing where county residents can sound off on the half-cent sales tax proposal. Supporters of the Ramsey County stadium plan say they expect voters would kill the tax and probably sink the project.

Later this week, the Metropolitan Council is planning to release a report requested by Gov. Mark Dayton on the Arden Hills site.
