Less than two weeks ago there was almost of a foot of snow on the ground, and today the high temperature will likely reach the 90s.

With a high of 93, dry conditions and 17 to 22 mph winds with 31 mph gusts, the National Weather Service is warning that conditions are favorable for wildfires.

The weather service issued a red flag warning for parts of southeast Minnesota and northern Iowa from noon to 8 p.m. today. The Department of Natural Resources will not issue any burning permits on Tuesday, as well.

There is also a chance for scattered thunderstorms between 5 p.m. and midnight, with a chance of large hail, damaging winds and lightning.

Area residents may want to keep an eye to the sky this weekend.

The weather service is already warning of the chance for possible thunderstorms Thursday through Monday night, and states that there is growing concern about severe storms late this weekend.
