Letter to the Editor

It is fitting that persons who have made generous contributions to our city, be recognized.

Pastor Ron Barnett of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, in the role of outstanding citizenship in Austin, deserves our gratitude. His birth in this city, and being nurtured by his family, the schools, and organizations of the community, prepared him to return as the Senior Pastor of the largest Protestant church in the area.

Now, following ten years of loyal, compassionate service, he will soon be leaving to honor God in a calling to another congregation in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Thankfulness is hereby expressed for the skills, care, and friendship he has shared with the City of Austin! A person who has received multiple gifts from a city in their formative years, and returns, in leadership, to share those gifts, joins a long line of splendor.
