RCC men fall to Minnesota West

The Riverland men’s basketball team closed its season with an 89-83 loss to Minnesota West on senior night in Riverland Gym Saturday.

Austin grad Goliath Oboyo had 10 points and eight rebounds and an emphatic dunk in his last game wight he Blue Devils (10-17 overall, 3-11 MCAC South). Oboyo plans to continue playing basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

“I didn’t think anybody in the coaching staff or the team really thought Oboyo could actually dunk the ball and he threw one down today,” RCC assistant coach Derek Hahn said. “That was a cool way for him to go out.”

Guillermo DeDiego had 13 points, six rebounds and 10 assists, Andrew Lau had 22 points and 10 rebounds and Zach Hinrichs had 15 points and nine rebounds.

DeDiego, Lau and Hinrichs all have plans to play college ball somewhere next season.

“It’s always a good sign when our guys our moving on,” Hahn said.
