Ryan Gordon Memorial fundraiser returns
An Adams native who passed away at age 42 from stomach cancer will be remembered and celebrated this month through a fundraiser involving one of his passions — golf.
On Saturday, June 21, the second annual Ryan Gordon Memorial Golf Tournament & Silent Auction will take place at the Cedar River Golf Course in Adams, located along Minnesota Highway 56. It consists of a four-person, best-shot golf tournament, with a shotgun start at noon.
All proceeds from the memorial event will go directly The Hormel Institute to support cancer research.
“Anyone who knew Ryan got to see his passion for golf,” Shirley Gordon said in a press release. “This tournament is a fitting tribute to him while also raising vital funds to support citing-edge work at The Hormel Institute that accelerates answers to cancer. Ryan’s generous heart and caring for others continue on through this special event.”
The inaugural event last year drew more than 60 golfers and raised $2,450.
Cost is $45 per golfer at the tourney, which includes a hamburger meal afterward; non-golfers can pay $10 for the meal only. Cart rental will be available at the golfer’s expense; early registration is recommended to ensure car availability. Reservations can be made at the Cedar River Golf Course’s pro shop or by calling 507-582-3595.
