Austin theater tightens security after shooting
In light of the Thursday morning shooting in Aurora, Colo., which left 12 dead and 58 injured, the Austin CineMagic7 movie theater has stepped up security.
Odyssey Entertainment, LLC, which owns CineMagic7 and five other theaters in Minnesota and Iowa, posted a sign Friday at the Austin theater’s ticket counter saying it will no longer allow any bags or packages except women’s purses inside its theaters.
It is unclear if the move was temporary or permanent.
Gary Westmark, vice president of operations at Odyssey, did not return calls for comment.
James Holmes, 24, is accused of opening fire in a Colorado theater during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.
