ADAMS— The Southland volleyball team used its entire roster to take care of business against No. 10 seeded Glenville-Emmons (2-17 overall) in a Section 1A West tournament pig-tail match in Adams Monday.

The No. 7 seeded Rebels (8-21 overall) used all 13 of the players on the their roster as they cruised to a sweep by scores of 25-12, 25-14, 25-21.

The Wolverines gave Southland their best shot in the third game as they tied the match at 20-20, but Southland’s Morgan Schmitz, who had seven kills and seven digs, had a kill to make it 22-20 and another kill to make it 23-21 and the Rebels finished the sweep.

“We wanted to get everyone in and I think every one played well tonight,” Southland head coach Andrea McKichan said.

Southland sophomore Olivia Gray was playing in her first career postseason contest, but she didn’t show any nerves as she racked up 10 kills and four ace serves.

“It was exciting and I thought it was real fun,” Gray said. “I felt like sometimes we were playing down, but we finished strong at the end.”

Southland never trailed in either of the first two games and it only trailed once in the final game.

The Rebels will now focus on playing at No. 2 Hayfield (18-8 overall) Thursday at 7 p.m.

“I think it’s going to be a hard match,” Gray said. “It’ll be a good challenge.”
