Bank team wins Stay Fit

It was money in the bank for the winners of the 2011 Stay Fit.

The United Way of Mower County announced US Bank team Sherry Schied and Crystal Curry won Stay Fit. Each received an iPod, iTunes card and United Way of Mower County tumbler.

The Stay Fit 2011 Challenge was offered to all 2011 Get Fit and Be Fit participants as an online fitness program. The free 12 week exercise program focused on cardio, strength and flexibility. Exercises were designed to take advantage of the outdoors and all the community has to offer to keeping fit, including the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center, bike trails and pool.

“This was an easy program to do and it kept participants focused on exercising and being active,” said United Way Executive Director Mandi Lighthizer-Schmidt. “It’s easy to come home after work and relax, but this program gave team members the plan and incentive to get outside and do something.”

The team that completed each weeks exercises and had the largest percentage of weight loss was the winner. Teams were comprised of two or more people and there were 22 participating teams.

This was the first year Stay Fit was offered as an extension of Get Fit/Be Fit.
