Snow, cold, blustery winds return for Super Sunday
Sunday could prove a good day to stay inside and watch the Super Bowl, though local residents could encounter slick roads on the way to any Super Bowl parties.
After a few weeks of milder weather, the Austin area was expected to see as much as 7 inches of snow from Saturday night through Sunday.
About 2 to 4 inches of snow was expected Saturday night and an additional 1 to 3 inches was possible Sunday. The heaviest snow was expected south of Mason City, Iowa, and U.S. Highway 18.
Blowing and drifting possible with winds of 17 to 20 mph with 28 mph gusts possible Sunday.
Temperatures were expected to drop from a high of 15 Sunday to a low of minus 6. High temperatures were expected to be in the teens and 20s next week.
