Alleged car, gas thief ends up in Wadena Co. jail

A suspect is in the Wadena County Jail after he allegedly stole a car from Rube’s Auto in Grand Meadow last Friday.

According to Mower County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark May, a thin, clean-cut, white male with blonde hair in his 20s asked to test drive a car at Rube’s Auto at about 11 a.m. while he was with two others. According to the report, the suspect did not have to show any identification before driving the car. Spring Valley Kwik Trip employees reported a gas drive-off shortly after the alleged theft, and authorities believe the thief was the same suspect. The alleged thief was later arrested in Wadena County, Minn., and a nearby towing company retrieved the stolen car and took it to Menahak, Minn.

May did not yet release the suspect’s name. The two others with the suspect may be investigated, as well.
